Jettisoned from Astral Chaos, Mitsurugi was confused by what had just occurred but overjoyed to have found an opponent he couldn't beat even at his current level of power, and vowed to become even stronger. Intrigued by his ability to grow stronger while in Astral Chaos instead of being weakened, Acht sought to convert Mitsurugi into a Malfested but was interrupted by the deific Hero-King Algol. Growing dissatisfied with his inability to find more worthy opponents, Mitsurugi was pulled into Astral Chaos by a mysterious Malfested called Iska Acht, who duelled him in the forms of Cervantes de Leon, Nightmare, and Inferno. Wanting a rematch, the samurai left the Conduit to pursue Geralt. Mitsurugi faced the witcher, but the match ended in a draw. A year later, Mitsurugi met the Conduit again and faced Geralt, who was just transported from his world through an astral fissure. Mitsurugi parted ways with the witcher, asking for another fight if he ever returned.Īt the conclusion of his first quest for Soul Edge, Mitsurugi met the Conduit in Indochina on his way back home, and the two of traveled for a brief time before parting ways in Yangguang. After a spar with the pirate, he apologized for the misunderstanding and warned the duo about Taki and her connections to Soul Edge. After defeating her, the samurai was finally told by the ninja that he was tricked by Edge Master, and was left with a note from the old man explaining his actions.ĭuring his journey, Mitsurugi came across Kilik and Maxi, mistaking the latter as a nunchaku wielder who wanted him dead. Mitsurugi was lured into a trap by Edge Master where he was confronted by Taki. The samurai began to realize that what he really sought was combat against the very best. Mitsurugi remained unperturbed, and threw himself and his sword into battlefields around the land to continue honing his skills, the old man’s words about mastering the military arts always in the back of his mind. By that point, however, it was too late to do anything: word reached him that Nightmare had already disappeared. When their paths crossed, Mitsurugi was led on a wild goose chase, being lured to a place with no connection whatsoever to his mission. On his journey, he heard word of a mysterious old gentleman- Edge Master-said to have knowledge of Nightmare. Hearing rumors Soul Edge was in the hands of a new owner called Nightmare, Mitsurugi once again set out for foreign soil. All that remained now was getting his hands on a powerful weapon. The event nevertheless inspired Mitsurugi, imbuing him with an insatiable thirst for knowledge about fighting techniques, and in time he became a truly great warrior. This too, ended in failure, when he was shot in his right shoulder. While back in his mother country, he entered a tournament that saw him pitted against Tanegashima. ![]() However, with the revolutionary introduction of the rifle (known as “Tanegashima”) from abroad, he felt his blade as no longer up to scratch, and so departed for foreign lands in search of Soul Edge. ![]() Heishiro Mitsurugi relied on his sword to see him through the turbulence of the warring states period in his homeland, Japan. ![]()
